Government troops take Claireur and kill the insurgent chief Saint Preux Gabeau
Haitian
Lively market. Varied produce. Rural school and chapel. Justice of the peace. In January 1889 the minister of war, Gen. Anselme Prophète, was preparing to march from Tomonde against the separatists of the Cap who were occupying Hinche. On 7 January the government troops seized the bourg of CLAIREUR and killed Saint Preux Gabeau, the leader of the insurgents.
Rouzier tells this under the entry TOMONDE.
