Gérin, Jourdain and others refuse the oath to the whites and seize Petit Trou de Nippes
Haitian
History. General Elie Etienne Gérin, who was minister of war of the emperor Dessalines, lived at the Baradères, where he practiced the profession of coasting skipper. He was one of those who, with Jourdain, refused on 1 September 1790 to take the oath of respect to the whites, took up arms, and seized Petit Trou de Nippes.
Rouzier tells this under the entry Baradères (les).
