Gerin at Laval learns of the arrest of General Moreau and the rising of the South
Haitian
The Minister of War, General Gérin, had leased this property from the State domain; he was there under medical treatment when he learned, on 10 October 1806, of the arrest of General Moreau at the Karatas and of the rising of the South against Emperor Dessalines. He embraced the revolution at the instance of Madame Veuve Abel, sister of General Geffrard, and became its principal leader. In 1811, I. F. Lespinasse worked this habitation, which General Gérin managed. It was there that he acquired the taste for agricultural enterprises in which he later distinguished himself. In 1812 Laval was allotted to I. C. Imbert as a national gift.
Rouzier tells this under the entry LAVAL.
