general Moyse, accused of the revolt in the North, was shot at Port-de-Paix after being tried at Cap.

Haitian

This general censured his uncle’s predilection for the whites; and although he had been the principal instrument of Hédouville’s flight and of the humiliations Roume underwent, he was far from sharing all his political ideas. He had never been able to adopt his fatal prejudices against the *mulâtres*, which often led people to believe that he had declared himself against the war of the South. He had waged the war of the Môle with as much humanity as was possible in that era of ardent passions. He was therefore accused of the revolt that broke out in the North at the end of vendémiaire (October). Without having been heard, he was tried at the Cap and shot at Port-de-Paix on 5 frimaire (26 November).
