General Dumont arrested at Sicard and sent to Rochambeau
Haitian
SICARD. Habitation in the commune of Fort Liberté. In 1803 General Daut Brave set out from Sicard against the French and came to camp on the habitation Jaquinville, 3,000 in number. The same year Fort Liberté was blockaded by sea by the English and by land by the indigènes. General Dumont, who commanded the place, proposed to the indigenous general a meeting at Sicard. He proposed to him to establish a market at the gates of the town. The indigènes, instead of replying to him, arrested him and conducted him to the habitation Blancourt at the Trou. The French had to place themselves at the discretion of the English, who conducted him to the Cap, to Rochambeau, on 8 September 1803.
Rouzier tells this under the entry SICARD.
