General Dardignac storms the Passe-à-Roche rampart
Haitian
At 6 o’clock General Dardignac attacked the formidable rampart of the Passe-à-Roche, which lies one lieue from Dessalines, and after a most bitter struggle, which lasted 5 hours, dislodged the enemy from that position, before which we had 15 wounded and 3 dead. Among the latter, the intrepid General Doréus Bayard, former commandant of the commune of la Grande-Saline, paid with his life for his devotion to the government of the Republic.
Rouzier tells this under the entry Dessalines ou Marchand.
