General Dardignac killed at the Cap Rouge crossroads
Haitian
On 3 August 1889 General Dardignac met his death at one o’clock in the afternoon at the crossroads of the Cap Rouge, while defending the government of President Légitime. He was killed by volunteers from Jacmel who were in his escort. His exactions had made him hated. Carried to Port-au-Prince, on board the Belize, his corpse received military honors on Monday 4 August.
Rouzier tells this under the entry Cap Rouge (le).
