General Chérilus Phanor runs the Artibonite aground in the bay

Haitian

In May 1869, the approaches of the bay were occupied by the troops of President Salnave against the Cacos. On 25 August, General Chérilus Phanor ran the steamer Artibonite aground in this bay; he was being pursued by General Brice, aboard a ship of the revolutionary party. The Artibonite was captured and taken to the Cayes.

Rouzier tells this under the entry Flamands (les).
