General Brice dies
Haitian
Benjamin. Property called Guildive Benjamin, situated to the southwest of the town of Port-au-Prince on the seashore, near the Portail de Léogane. It has 849 French feet of frontage by 582 of depth. It belonged to Emperor Soulouque. Confiscated by the State in 1860, it was leased to General Brice in 1873 for thirty years for the establishment of a factory to extract the coloring matter of logwood. This enterprise having failed as a result of the death of General Brice, which occurred on 1 May 1875, the property was returned in 1880 by the State to the Soulouque family, which has since sold it to various persons, together with all the establishments that Brice had raised there.
Rouzier tells this under the entry Benjamin.
