General Benjamin Noël enters Verrettes from Mirebalais
Haitian
In 1812, shortly after the siege of Port-au-Prince by Christophe, the Mirebalais rose in revolt against the king of the North. General Almanjor, commanding for the king, was assassinated. It was from Mirebalais that General Benjamin Noël set out to enter the Artibonite immediately after the revolt of Saint Marc against Christophe. He entered the Verrettes on 13 October 1820, and on the 15th the Petite-Rivière de l’Artibonite. In January 1859, Mirebalais took part in the general insurrection of the Cacos against Salnave. In July, the Cacos of Mirebalais seized the post of Diaquois and of the Grans-Bois.
Rouzier tells this under the entry MIREBALAIS (le).
