Ex-emperor Faustin I dies at Petit-Goâve
Haitian
In 1867, after the departure of President Geffrard, the former emperor Faustin I returned from exile to come and die in the roadstead of Petit-Goave. He had been born there. His mausoleum is raised on a granite base, with a square of marble surmounted by a basket in which a flame burns. The following epitaph can be read there: Faustin I, Emperor of Haiti. Died at Petit-Goave on 6 April 1867 at the age of 85.
Rouzier tells this under the entry PETIT-GOAVE.
