Dessalines orders the general burning of the Cul-de-Sac plain

On 4 June 1803 Dessalines, to force all the inhabitants to take up arms against the French, ordered the general burning of the plain of the Cul-de-Sac. In less than fifteen days this whole plain was nothing more than a heap of ashes.
