Dessalines and Pétion set out from Arcahaye on the march to Port-au-Prince.
Haitian
Scarcely back, Dessalines leaves the banks of the Artibonite on 28 fructidor (15 September), with 4 battalions of the 3rd and 8th, and the 4th and 20th demi-brigades, makes his junction with Pétion at Arcahaye, whence they set out on the march on 30 fructidor (17 September); each demi-brigade carries a certain number of gabions so that nothing may check the speed of the expedition. In the night of the same day the army was encamped in front of the posts of Damiens, Santo, Grande-Rivière and Croix-des-Bouquets.
