Deputies from Jérémie to Borgella are arrested at Thomas Quiny

Haitian

The deputies sent by the town of Jérémie on 5 February 1843 to General Borgella at the Cayes, to announce to him the reasons for the revolution, spent the night on this habitation. At the moment when they were resting from their fatigue, a detachment arrived from Camp-Perrin and woke them with the cries: “In the name of the law, you are prisoners, surrender your arms.” The officer stepped forward and the soldiers leveled their bayonets. At once their arms were seized; they were made to march; they handed over the packages they were carrying. At two o’clock in the morning they arrived at Camp-Perrin, where General Riché was in command. The next day General Borgella had them put in the dungeons.

Rouzier tells this under the entry THOMAS QUENILLE ou QUINY.
