Department founded by the Central Assembly

For a long time it was called the department of Louverture, after the name of the general in chief of the army of Saint-Domingue, and it was founded on 13 July 1801 by the central assembly of Saint-Domingue.

Rouzier tells this under the entry Artibonite (l’).
