DECREE of the Conseil of the Cap, concerning the payment or replacement of executed nègres

THE CONSEIL orders that henceforth all nègres who are executed, and who have been heretofore, and who remain to be paid for to their enslavers, shall be replaced from the ships of the nègre trade that come to this Port, according to the quality of said executed nègres; namely, Piece d’Inde for Piece d’Inde, and defective for defective; unless one prefers to take their value in money, according to the appraisal that shall be made in accordance with the Ordinance.
