Haitian

BETWEEN the man named Jean Capiscol, etc. THE COURT, ruling on the requisition of our Procureur-Général, orders that the Regulations of the Court shall be executed according to their form and tenor; accordingly, it forbids all Curés, Vicaires or Desservans of Parishes to publish any banns, or to celebrate any marriages between nègres or people of color, and likewise to baptize any nègre child or child of color, unless there has been shown to the said Curés, Vicaires or Desservans the act of emancipation of the said nègres or people of color, or proof that they are free by birth, through the presentation of their Baptismal Act. It likewise forbids all Notaires or other public Officers to draw up any acts between nègres or people of color calling themselves free, without first having had presented to them the acts of emancipation of the said nègres or people of color, or their Baptismal Extracts in good and due form.
