DECREE of the Conseil du Cap concerning Goods lost on a Passenger boat commanded by a mulâtre, and the Policing of Passenger boats

Haitian

BETWEEN the Sieurs Castera and company, operating the Passenger boat of Fort Dauphin; And the Sieurs Riviere and Chevaly, merchants, (Pleading: Maîtres d’Augy and Viel).

The Decree confirms the Sentence of the Lieutenant de l’Amirauté of the Cap, of 20 August preceding, which, considering what results from the declaration made at the Greffe by the mulâtre Colas, that the Sieurs Castera and Company had entrusted the command of their boat to the said Colas, enslaved, had sentenced them to pay 14,000 and some hundreds of livres, for 93 sacks of coffee loaded on the said Boat, wrecked on the reefs, unless they preferred to have it assessed by Arbitrators.
