DECREE of the Conseil du Cap, concerning a sealed Letter found in the hands of a captured nègre

Haitian

Having seen by the Conseil the Petition of Jean Baberdeau and his wife, the conclusions of M. Lohier de la Charmeraye, Substitut for the Procureur-Général, and having heard the report of M. Loiseau, Conseiller, and all considered: THE CONSEIL orders that the said Letter be withdrawn from the file and delivered to its addressee.

This was a Letter found in the hands of an arrested nègre, suspected of having been lured away; the Petition asked for its opening and deposit, it being attached to the official report of the Huissier, and expected to contain the proof of the concealment.
