Combat at Polveau between Debelle’s second column and Bodin

Haitian

In 1802 it was occupied by Bodin, a homme de couleur, colonel of the 9th colonial. On 20 February the second column of General Debelle of the Leclerc expedition, marching against Maurepas at the Trois Pavillon, presented itself before Polveau. The fighting was joined with fury. While René Vincent was resisting with intrepidity at the Trois Pavillons the impetuosity of the French, General Debelle heard the cannon of the second column of the right, which was fighting Colonel Baudin at Polveau. After a most murderous combat, Bodin saw this column flee before him, and it returned in disorder to Port-de-Paix, where it rejoined its general.

Rouzier tells this under the entry POLVEAU.
