Columbus takes on water and wood for the voyage to Spain
This day he was busy having water and wood taken on for the departure to Spain, in order to give the Sovereigns news quickly so that they might send ships to discover what remained to be discovered, for the business already seemed so great and of such weight that it is a marvel (said the Admiral); and he says that he would not have wished to leave until he had seen all that land that ran toward the east, and gone along all of it by the coast, also to learn (so he says) the passage from Castile to it, in order to bring livestock and other things. But as he had been left with a single ship, it did not seem to him a reasonable thing to expose himself to the dangers that might befall him while discovering. And he complained that all that harm and trouble came from his having parted from the caravel Pinta.
