… Whereas between the Adelantado, my brother, and the Alcalde Francisco Roldan and his company there have been certain differences in my absence, while I was in Castile, and to provide a means in it such that Their Highnesses are served, it is necessary that the said Alcalde come before me and give me an account of all things as they have passed, although I am informed of some of it by the said Adelantado.
