Citizens of Saint Michel attack the Americans
Haitian
On 15 March 1916, during the American occupation, about a hundred citizens of Saint Michel armed themselves clandestinely and attacked the Americans of the bourg. The latter fell back on Gonaives and marched in order against the rebels, 30 of whom were taken prisoner. The Americans chained them and made them do forced labor at Saint Michel and at Gonaives.
Rouzier tells this under the entry SAINT MICHEL DE L’ATALAYE.
