Cacos enter the Gonaïves and reach Fort Raboteau, then retreat
Haitian
During the civil war of 1868 69, Victorin Chevallier established a fort there, in which he withdrew, on the seashore, and resisted all the attempts of the Cacos to force the entrance of the town. However, on 14 June 1869 the Cacos entered the Gonaives and came right up under Fort Raboteau, but they were obliged to retreat.
Rouzier tells this under the entry RABOTEAU.
