Cacos enter Gonaïves by the Pont Soleil and are swept out by Victorin Chevalier

Haitian

PONT SOLEIL (le). Bridge at the gates of the Gonaives. The Cacos entered the Gonaives on 14 August 1869 by the Pont Soleil; but they could not hold it against Victorin Chevalier, who swept them away. The contract for the distribution of water in the town of the Gonaives obliges the concessionaire to erect a fountain there.

Rouzier tells this under the entry PONT SOLEIL (le).
