By its decree of 30 messidor the agency dismissed Rochambeau, who had quarreled with Leblanc over his secretary Paulin Goy, and ordered his arrest and embarkation on the corvette the Berceau; he was held at the château du Hâ at Bordeaux and freed, but kept dismissed by the Directory.
