Boudet left Port-au-Prince aboard the Héros for Mont-Rouis, with Pétion and Birot on his staff.

Haitian

While the divisions of Hardy, Rochambeau and Debelle were moving toward the Cahos, the first by the Coupe-à-l’Inde, the second by the left bank of the Coboëuil, the third by Gonaïves, General Boudet departed from Port-au-Prince on 2 ventôse (21 February), aboard the ship the Héros, with Pétion and Birot on his staff (1), to proceed to Mont-Rouis, where his division was to join him by land. He pushed on as far as Saint-Marc, which Dessalines had just given to the flames.
