Admiral Forbes takes position at Dampuce and encircles Léogane
Haitian
On 18 March 1796, the English Admiral Forbes came to take position there with the left wing of his army, and surrounded Léogane. On the 21st, the English army was repulsed. At the beginning of the night, 2,000 men of English troops, coming out of Port-Républicain, emerged onto the savanna of Dampuce. In the night of 21 to 22 March, General Forbes raised the siege of the town and withdrew to Port-Républicain.
Rouzier tells this under the entry Dampuce.
