1940s: (LFAS Women Paved Alternative Routes — LFAS Women Paving Alternative Routes Off the Path of Disposability Confinement and Containment That Structured Women’s Legal and Social Citizenship Experiences, Women Incorporating Their Physical and Mental Health and Kinship Networks into Political Thinking and into Their Translation of the Historical Moment — All Informed by Women’s Wayfaring Toward Personal and Collective Sovereignty): LFAS women paved alternative routes off the path of disposability, confinement, and containment that structured women’s legal and social citizenship experiences. As documented in Jeanne’s letter, women incorporated their physical and mental health and kinship networks into political thinking and into their translation of the historical moment, all of which were informed by women’s wayfaring toward personal and collective sovereignty — the LFAS’s political practice was not separate from the body but enacted through it: through the flu-ridden body, the unmarried body, the laboring body, the body that refused.
