1937: (The Description of “Rogue” — the Description of the Woman’s Decision to Change Employment as “Rogue” Revealing Women Activists’ Potential Part in Policing and Containing Certain Haitian Women, the Essentializing Dismissal of Young Women Who Did Not Satisfy Elite and Middle-Class Women’s Service Desires into the Amorphous Realm of the Haitian Countryside Being a Recurring Response of Some Elite Black Women Throughout the Diaspora Concerned with Black Girls’ Urban Migration and Women’s Proper Performance in Public Space): The description of the woman’s decision to change employment as “rogue” revealed women activists’ potential part in policing and containing certain Haitian women. The essentializing dismissal of young women who did not satisfy elite and middle-class women’s service desires into the amorphous realm of the Haitian countryside was a recurring response of some elite Black women throughout the diaspora concerned with Black girls’ urban migration and women’s proper performance in public space — the word rogue did the work of criminalizing autonomy, transforming a woman’s decision to leave a bad job into a character deficiency.
