1935-1945: (LFAS Women’s Clarity and Concession — As Perez Moved Forward with Publishing La Voix des Femmes Remaining a Place to Share and Learn About Women’s Different Political Thoughts and Practices, LFAS Women Having Relative Clarity About the Enormity of the Systems of Oppressions and Political Structures That Informed Women’s Dispossession and Conceding That Not All Would Be Reconciled in Their Lifetimes — but Committed to Setting the Scene for Haitian Girls and Women to “Run” or Fly Like a Black-and-Brown Butterfly Toward the Light): As Perez moved forward with publishing, La Voix des Femmes remained a place for her to share and learn about women’s different political thoughts and practices. LFAS women had relative clarity about the enormity of the systems of oppressions and political structures that informed women’s dispossession, and they conceded that not all would be reconciled in their lifetimes. But, as Perez’s work reflects, they were committed to setting the scene for Haitian girls and women to run, or fly like a black-and-brown butterfly in the way that love goes toward the light — so that when mothers storytelling in the night asked girls like Marie-Madeleine, “Ou libéré?” they would be able to answer, “Wi manman/matant/marenn, M libéré.”
