1932: Louis Diaquoi announces the formation of the “Griots” group to rehabilitate African values and explore the country’s collective personality. The group urged Haitians to stop trying to be “ridiculous little whites” and to embrace their true genetic heritage. The group included Lorimer Denis and François Duvalier and sought to rehabilitate African values in Haitian national life.
