1795: Insurrection aboard the Bell (voyage 80472)

On a slaving voyage in 1795, the people aboard the Bell rose against the crew. They had been taken at Sierra Leone estuary.

The record gives the numbers as: 215 people were embarked; 197 were landed.

Captain: Thompson, David. Flag: Great Britain. Recorded outcome, in the database’s words: “captured by the French – after embarkation of slaves.”
