1787: Intendant Marbois reported that the free population of color in the colony had grown to approximately 20,000 individuals.

1787: Intendant Marbois reported that the free population of color in the colony had grown to approximately 20,000 individuals. By the eve of the revolution in 1790, general opinion estimated this number had increased to 24,000.
