1767-Jun.-08: M. le Pelletier de Morfontaine, the Intendant of Soissons, attended the Fête de la Rose in Salancy and personally escorted the chosen Rosière during the ceremony. Moved by the public homage to virtue, the Magistrate assigned the girl an annual pension of 120 livres for her establishment and marriage. He further donated a significant sum to cover her wedding expenses and the acquisition of a house for the new household. Following her death, the pension was designated to remain reversible, supporting future Rosières of the village in successive years.
