1767-Jan.-07: The colonial gazette published news from Rome detailing the secret consistory held by Pope Clement XIII on July 21st. During this meeting, the Holy Father addressed the Sacred College regarding the urgent need to fill several vacant seats within their ranks. Two new cardinals were created: Jean-Octave Bufalini, the Archbishop of Chalcedon, and Jean-Charles Boschi, the Archbishop of Athens. This ecclesiastical update served to keep the Catholic inhabitants of Saint-Domingue informed of high-level changes within the global Church hierarchy.
