1767-Feb.-03: Two additional slaving vessels, Le Thésée from Marseille and Le Prince-de-Condé from Nantes, arrived at Cap-Français with 240 captives from the Gold Coast. The Prince-de-Condé was notably under new leadership by Captain Detcheverry following the death of its original commander, M. Bouvet. The sale of these captives was overseen by the merchants Tardivy and Collot, beginning the day after their arrival. High mortality rates among ship officers were common during the Middle Passage, though they rarely halted the commercial delivery of human cargo.
