1766-Aug.-29: The Opera in Paris began presenting “Les Fêtes Lyriques,” a new heroic ballet in three acts featuring contributions from various authors. The production included the segment “Lindor & Ismene,” derived from a work by the late M. de Bonneval, and “Anacréon,” which had first been performed at Fontainebleau in 1754. These complex musical and dance spectacles represented the pinnacle of French cultural entertainment in the eighteenth century.
