1754: Shore attack on the boats of the Greyhound, bound for Kingston (voyage 90506)

African

On a slaving voyage that ended at Kingston in 1754, the Greyhound had its boats attacked from the shore. The people aboard had been taken at Anomabu, Adja, Agga.

The record gives the numbers as: 238 people were embarked; 204 were landed.

Captain: Furnell, William. Flag: Great Britain. Recorded outcome, in the database’s words: “voyage completed as intended.”

Resistance is recorded only where a surviving document mentions it. The 571 such acts in the record are a floor. Silence in that column is silence in the archive. It says nothing about calm on the ship.
