Des Obligations du Capitaine

Commercial Law
Titre II: Des Navires et autres Bâtimens de mer (On Ships and Other Seagoing Vessels)
Chapitre IV: Des Obligations du Capitaine (On the Obligations of the Captain)

Life lesson: A captain must record every event at sea, every day — and hand the log to the admiralty the moment he docks.
Notes: Mandatory logbook: daily entries of all events on board + all information received during voyage. Deposited at admiralty clerk's office (greffe) upon arrival at home port. Primary evidentiary record.
