Le propriétaire pourra démettre son capitaine avant un voyage commencé, sans être tenu à indemnités envers lui, à moins qu'il n'y ait entre eux des conventions écrites qui l'y obligent.

Life lesson: An owner can fire the captain before sailing with no compensation — unless their contract says otherwise.
Notes: Pre-voyage dismissal: owner may dismiss captain without indemnity. Exception: written agreements (conventions écrites) may create indemnity obligation. Employment at will unless contracted.
