Les fonctions du capitaine cessent du moment de l'adjudication; il aura cependant la faculté de se pourvoir, s'il y a lieu, envers qui de droit.

Life lesson: Once the ship is auctioned off, the captain is out — but he can still sue whoever wronged him.
Notes: Captain's termination: functions cease at moment of adjudication. Retains right of recourse against responsible parties. Clean break with preserved claims.
