Des Diverses espèces d'Obligations

Contract Law
Titre XVII: Des Contrats ou Obligations conventionnelles en général (On Contracts or Conventional Obligations in General)
Chapitre III: Des Diverses espèces d'Obligations (On the Various Kinds of Obligations)

Le terme diffère de la condition, en ce qu'il ne suspend point l'engagement dont il retarde seulement l'exécution.

Life lesson: A term delays execution; a condition suspends the very existence of the obligation. The obligation with a term is born; it merely waits.
Notes: Term vs. condition: term delays execution (obligation exists); condition suspends obligation itself. Cf. Code Napoléon Art. 1185.
