Des Diverses espèces d'Obligations

Contract Law
Titre XVII: Des Contrats ou Obligations conventionnelles en général (On Contracts or Conventional Obligations in General)
Chapitre III: Des Diverses espèces d'Obligations (On the Various Kinds of Obligations)

Life lesson: Promise something impossible or immoral as a condition, and the whole deal is void — unless it's a promise not to do the impossible, which is harmless.
Notes: Impossible/immoral/illegal condition = nullity. Exception: negative impossible condition is harmless. Cf. Code Napoléon Art. 1172.
