Le consentement des père et mère est indispensable, en cas de mariage, pour le fils qui n'a pas atteint l'âge de vingt-un ans révolus, et pour la fille qui n'a pas atteint l'âge de dix-huit ans accomplis. Si les père et mère diffèrent d'opinion, celle du père prévaudra.

Life lesson: A child may not marry without a parent's blessing. And where parents disagree, the father's word settles the matter — for good or ill.
Notes: Parental consent ages: 21 for sons, 18 for daughters. Father's opinion prevails in case of disagreement — a standard patriarchal provision. The age gap reflects gendered expectations about maturity and independence.
