Chapitre IV: Des Dispositions testamentaires (On Testamentary Dispositions)

L'héritier institué ou le légataire conserve et transmet à ses héritiers le droit que lui donnerait une disposition testamentaire, dont la condition, suivant l'intention du testateur, n'aurait d'autre objet que de suspendre l'exécution de la disposition.

Life lesson: If the condition merely delays execution rather than determining entitlement, the right is vested and transmissible to the legatee's heirs.
Notes: Suspensive vs. resolutory condition: condition merely suspending execution → right vested and transmissible. Legatee's heirs may claim. Cf. Code Napoléon Art. 1041.
