Ce droit cependant ne pourra plus être exercé, s'il y a novation dans la créance contre le défunt, par l'acceptation de l'héritier pour débiteur.

Life lesson: Accept the heir as your new debtor — a novation — and you lose the right to demand separation. You chose the heir's patrimony; you cannot unchoose.
Notes: Novation extinguishes separation right: accepting heir as debtor (novation) → estate creditor loses séparation des patrimoines. Cf. Code Napoléon Art. 879.
