Les immeubles doivent être estimés par experts choisis par les parties intéressées, ou à leurs refus, nommés d'office. Le procès verbal des experts doit présenter les bases de l'estimation, indiquer si l'objet peut être commodément partagé; de quelle manière; fixer enfin, en cas de division, chacune des parts qu'on peut en former, et leur valeur.

Life lesson: Experts appraise the immovables — chosen by the parties or appointed by the court. Their report must show the valuation basis, whether partition is feasible, and how to form the lots.
Notes: Expert appraisal of immovables: party-chosen or court-appointed. Report must include: valuation basis, partibility assessment, proposed lots and values. Cf. Code Napoléon Art. 824.
