Des divers Ordres des Successions

Succession Law
Titre XV: Des Successions (On Successions)
Chapitre III: Des divers Ordres des Successions (On the Various Orders of Succession)

Life lesson: Ascendant and collateral successions split in half — one side for the father's line, one for the mother's. Full-blood kin do not shut out half-blood kin, but each takes only in their own line.
Notes: Fente (split): succession to ascendants/collaterals divided equally between paternal and maternal lines. Full-blood (germains) do not exclude half-blood (utérins/consanguins); half-blood take only in their line. Cf. Code Napoléon Art. 733.
