Property Law
Titre XIV: Des Servitudes ou Services fonciers (On Servitudes or Land Services)

La servitude est un droit qui assujettit un fonds à quelque service pour l'usage d'un autre fonds appartenant à un autre propriétaire.

Life lesson: A servitude binds one piece of land to serve another — property speaks to property, and the obligation runs with the soil.
Notes: Definition of servitude: a charge on one property (servient) for the benefit of another property (dominant) belonging to a different owner. Real right, not personal. Foundation article for servitude law. Cf. Code Napoléon Art. 637.
